“凡事有常必有變;常,承也;變,革也。承易而革難。”潘天壽

“ Constants and changes are two sides of a coin. Constants are inheritances, while changes are reforms, it’s easy to inherit but hard to reform.” Pan Tian Shou

Over the past 50 years, Tien chi constantly explored the possibilities on ink painting. He has situated his pioneering practice at the intersection between traditional Chinese art and contemporary concepts. He learns from the past, but is free from past constraints. Also engaging with contemporary concepts about space and form, He has redefined the way in which Chinese art is presented and experienced. One work, for example, titled 錯體 Inverse created in 2001.

“當空间配合水墨筆觸, 捕捉生命的自然魅力.” 天池

“ Through Space with the Ink strokes, it illustrates the enchantment of naturalness in life. ” Tien Chi
